Shake Up Your Learning: Flipped Classroom

 Hello, my dear reader, 💗

What's cracking? I hope everything is alright. 😽

Today, we will discuss the flipped classroom approach. First, what is a flipped classroom? It is a blended learning in which the students learn at home and practice in class. Students watch lecture videos prepared by their teacher at home and do coursework in class. This approach has its pros and cons. The flipped classroom benefits students by allowing them to take responsibility, pace their own learning, and engage in collaborative work. The flipped classroom is also beneficial for teachers in detecting students who really need help and being a guide on the side of the class. On the other hand, this approach might be hard to implement in classes where students do not have the same technological opportunities. It might also be difficult for teachers to prepare video material beforehand since it takes a long time.

As we have learned what a "flipped classroom" is, I can tell you about my assignment. We were to prepare either a grammar-teaching video or a vocabulary-teaching video for a flipped classroom. We chose to prepare a grammar-teaching video with my group friends who were YaÄŸmur Kavak, Bilge Dilara DoÄŸan, and Polat Öztürk. Don't forget to check their blogs by clicking on their names! First off, we chose what to teach in the video. We decided on "tag questions" for the topic. Then, we decided to make screencasting since it was practical for all of us. YaÄŸmur and I took the part of "lecturing", and Bilge and Polat took the part of "practicing". We prepared our slides and visuals on Canva which might be my favorite tool to use for these kinds of assignments! The tool has many ready-made templates for different kinds of use with engaging visuals and it has an easy interface. After the slides, we made our screencasts individually by also recording our voices. Lastly, our friend, Polat, merged our videos and voices using Shortcut, a video editing platform. While recording the video, I had difficulty adjusting my pace since we had limited time. However, except that, I enjoyed the assignment and it did not take too long to complete.
