Podcasting
Hello, my dear reader!
Welcome to another post! ๐
Today, we will focus on podcasting. I was supposed to make a podcast for my Instructional Technologies and Material Design course. But this time, I was not alone while doing my assignment. Since the type of podcast I chose was a pair work, I collaborated with my friend Yaฤmur Kavak. You can visit her blog by clicking here. She has a very lovely blog, so you might want to take a peek at it. ๐
Yaฤmur and I created a vox-pop podcast. For this podcast, we interviewed 10 people, asking: If you could stop aging at a certain age and live the rest of your life at that age, what age would you choose? According to the answers given, we found out that the majority of the people wanted to remain under the age of 20 for the rest of their lives. Also, we discovered that the most common reason underlying their answers was the notion that "being a teen/child is fun". Few people said that they would like to remain above the age of 20. Their most common reason was the notion that "being above 20 means more experience in life". Of the data we collected, the minimum age was 6, and the maximum age was 40.
While making this podcast we had a hard time finding 10 people to interview, but thankfully our classmates helped us. When I saw that the time limit was only 2 minutes in total, I thought it would be impossible to interview 10 people within such a short time. Though we had to cut our recording a little, the time limit was actually enough. To be honest, I really enjoyed making a podcast. It was interesting to hear different points of view. I kind of felt like I was a genuine "podcaster" while I was recording my voice. Therefore, I definitely recommend podcasting! ๐คฉ
I would want my students to experience podcasting, as well. I think podcasting would improve their audio literacy. They might also utilize the gains they have acquired from podcasting. For example, they can use audio materials when they become a teacher. Furthermore, learners' communication and speaking skills would be developed by podcasting. I don't think there are disadvantages to creating a podcast as far as the audio is clear and the audience is addressed right.
