Telling Story in a Technological Way
Hello, my dear reader!
Happy to see you after a short break! π
Today we will talk about digital storytelling. This week's project was digital storytelling for my Instructional Technologies and Material Design course. We had several options and we picked the fictional story. It was a pair work so I collaborated with my dear friend YaΔmur Kavak. You can reach her blog by clicking here.
Now, I want to talk about my experience with digital storytelling. We chose the fictional story because it seemed more fun and catchy than the other categories. Then, we decided on the topic. Our topic includes irony and morals. It is a story about a singer who does not care about the environment but stops her destructive actions against the environment at the end of the story.
Creating a digital story was a lot of fun, to be honest. We used Pixton for our imagery. Pixton has many features and qualified designs. However, we had to screenshot the images we created because this application demands money.
While creating a digital story, it was very hard to handle the little details such as changing the facial reactions accordingly. We needed to change the characters appropriate to our story. After we were done with the images, we turned them into a video and recorded our voices. We also had to adjust the timing of the voice and video.
I think digital storytelling is an effective way to catch students' attention. Moreover, they would develop their technology, speaking, and creative thinking skills.
I recommend y'all to create one!
